Everyday planning

Check the weather for the hours you will be outside.

A day’s weather icon cannot describe your entire outing. Compare the destination, the activity window and the journey using the forecast and official local information.

Events and outdoor sport

Include setup and pack-up in the forecast window. Note rain timing and wind as well as temperature, and decide who will review updates. Follow the venue or organiser’s weather arrangements. Atmosphr does not provide a lightning detector or an event-clearance decision.

Camping and road trips

Check the overnight period and the route, not only the afternoon at your destination. Open each stop in the detailed forecast, confirm the place and save its link. Use the relevant road authority and land manager for access restrictions; a clear weather map is not evidence that a road or campground is open.

Fishing, beaches and coastal plans

Use the official coastal forecast and warning information for the water activity, and obtain tide predictions for the relevant port. The official tide-table directory explains where to find them. A land forecast and the model sea-level panel are not substitutes for tide tables or marine navigation advice.

A simple check before you go

  1. Find the actual location and confirm the region.
  2. Review the hourly period for your plan.
  3. Play recent radar and check its latest timestamp.
  4. Open official warning and state information.
  5. Decide when to check again and what alternative arrangement you will use.
