Your information
Privacy at Atmosphr
What we collect, why we use it, and the choices you have.
Updated 10 September 2026. This policy covers atmosphr.com.au, a weather website operated by Synthetik.
Advertising status: Atmosphr has applied for Google AdSense. Advertising is not currently enabled. The ownership verification tag does not load Google advertising scripts or set advertising cookies.
Weather locations and browser storage
We use the town, postcode or coordinates you select to find a location and retrieve its weather. If you choose Use my location and allow your browser to share it, the browser supplies coordinates that may identify your precise location. You can search for a town instead.
Our server receives weather and map requests, including selected coordinates or search terms. Our hosting provider also receives connection information such as your IP address, browser information and requested URLs. Hosting access logs may therefore contain location parameters.
Selected places, up to five recent searched places, display preferences and cached forecasts can be stored in your browser. Forecast links can include a place and coordinates; anyone you share a link with can see them. Browser-located forecasts are not automatically added to share links.
Weather, radar and map providers
Open-Meteo supplies forecast models, marine guidance and place search. OpenStreetMap Nominatim handles postcode lookups and some place-search fallbacks. RainViewer supplies historical radar imagery. Requests go through our server. Providers receive the search terms, coordinates or map area needed to answer the request, and our server's network information; our gateway does not forward your browser's IP address to them.
OpenStreetMap map tiles and optional NASA GIBS imagery load directly in your browser. These services receive your IP address, browser information and tile requests, which reveal the map area you are viewing. Street-map requests include our website's origin as the referrer, without the page path or location query string.
See Open-Meteo's privacy terms, OpenStreetMap's privacy policy, RainViewer's privacy policy and NASA's privacy policy. The weather page's data sources identify configured providers. We will update this policy if provider changes alter how your information is handled.
Site analytics and operational records
Analytics status is unavailable until the script loads.
Synthetik's analytics system measures pages visited, broad referring websites, screen and window sizes, time spent viewing a page and scroll depth. A random identifier in browser session storage, which normally ends with the tab session, relates visits within that session.
The tracker excludes weather searches, selected places, coordinates, URL query strings, map positions, form entries and click contents. Browser and operating-system information is derived from the request. The collector stores a daily salted hash of a truncated IP address instead of the raw IP address in page-view records. IP-based city lookup is disabled for Atmosphr. These measures do not mean that all records are anonymous.
The tracker honours Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. Hosting, security and diagnostic logs are separate and may still contain IP addresses and requested URLs. We use these records to operate the service and investigate errors or misuse.
Google advertising
We plan to use Google AdSense to fund this website. The following describes that planned use; Google ad serving is not yet active.
When enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to personalise ads based on visits across the internet. Ad services may also process IP addresses, device and browser information, and ad interactions for delivery, measurement and fraud prevention.
Manage personalised Google advertising in My Ad Center. Participating third-party vendors provide opt-out choices through YourAdChoices. These choices do not necessarily remove all ads or all storage used for advertising.
Before enabling ads, we will provide the applicable consent controls, including a Google-certified consent message for visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. Those visitors will be able to accept, refuse or manage consent and revisit their choices. Google account settings do not replace consent choices on this site.
Read how Google uses information from partner sites and Google's privacy policy. We will update the advertising status and this policy when ads become active.
Storage and overseas processing
Atmosphr is hosted through HostGator. Hosting, weather, map and planned advertising services may process information outside Australia. Open-Meteo is based in Switzerland and describes server capacity in Europe and North America; NASA and Google also operate services in the United States. Other processing locations depend on providers' infrastructure and policies. See HostGator's parent company's privacy information.
Browser preferences and location records can remain until cleared. Expired forecast records may remain in browser storage until replaced or cleared, although the site only uses cached forecasts within its freshness limits. Server caches are temporary. Operational logs, analytics and correspondence have different retention arrangements; contact us about a particular record or to request deletion. Some records may need to be retained for security, disputes or legal obligations.
Your choices
- Search by town or postcode instead of sharing precise location. Revoke location permission in browser settings at any time.
- Use Clear beside recent locations to remove that list. Reset view resets display preferences; it does not erase every stored location or forecast.
- Clear site data for atmosphr.com.au in your browser to remove saved locations, preferences, session identifiers and cached forecasts.
- Enable Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track to disable our analytics tracker. Restricting browser storage may stop some features remembering your choices.
Access, corrections and privacy questions
Contact Synthetik at hello@synthetik.au to ask about personal information we hold, request access, correction or deletion, or make a privacy complaint. Include enough context to locate the record, without unnecessary sensitive information. We may need to verify your identity before disclosing information.
We use your contact details and message to respond and manage the request. We will explain any limits on what we can provide or delete. If your concern remains unresolved, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes to this policy will be published here with an updated date.
