About the Dandenong Creek

  • About 53 km long, falling around 550 metres from the Dandenong Ranges to the bay.
  • Its wider catchment, with Eumemmerring Creek and other tributaries, covers about 882 km².
  • Passes Bayswater, Heathmont, Ringwood, Wantirna, Dandenong, Keysborough and Bangholme, then joins Eumemmerring Creek to form the Patterson River.
  • Retarding basins along the creek hold back floodwater, and a section of Heatherton Road is designed to act as a floodway.
